Building A Kiln With Jo Finch
Jo Finch is a national treasure when it comes to kiln building. We first came across him on a visit to Meri Wells' studio and saw the amazing wood burning kiln he built for her. Inspired by the wonderful possibilities for creating larger work, sculpture and surface firing effects we have asked him to build a kiln here at Mid Wales Arts.
Jo has ceramics in his blood, he was apprenticed to his father for 4 years at Winchcombe pottery before starting out on his own. He now has an international reputation and has built kilns as far away as New Zealand and India, he is in demand all over the world
This is a 2 day course which should equip you with the knowledge and confidence to design and build a gas and wood soda kiln and a small Raku kiln. Reasonably priced accommodation and excellent food are available on site. Cost for 2 days £300. Limited to 6 places
