Pottery Clubs

Popular Pottery and Ceramic Sculpture Club starts new daytime sessions.

Mid Wales Arts Centre in Caersws has been running pottery and sculpture clubs for 10 years.

The Wednesday session will continue 7-9pm and all ages and abilities are welcome. Some wonderful individual and group work regularly comes out of the kilns and students have gone on to win competitions and study sculpture at University. We now have an electric and a woodburning kiln and 2 electric wheels. The sessions take place in a well equipped art room.

The friendly classes are run on a voluntary basis by a committed group of  local potters and teachers including Mike Browning, Alison Finnieston, Carine Van Gestel, Cathy Knapp and Andy Warren. This helps keep costs down and makes it accessible to the community, attendees  pay subs only for the sessions they attend. The value of working with clay can not be over estimated, as a material to experiment with, an ancient craft to learn, an opportunity to develop practical and creative skills,  relax, laugh and have fun. It's therapeutic value is obvious and in some areas Dr's actually prescribe it.

On Thursday evenings we run an after school club 5-6.30, for 7-11 year olds.

From Thursday 31st January we will be offering a Thursday afternoon club 2-4pm so that people who are not keen on driving at night, or have long distances to travel can come along.

Family friendly sessions on the 1st Saturday of every month 2-4pm are being introduced from this Saturday 2nd Feb.

An exhibition of recent work by members will be on show in Newtown Library from the 4th Feb.

Please come along! If you have any questions email: office@midwalesarts.org.uk   or ring Cathy on 07970671819
