Nicky Arscott lives and works in Llanbrynmair. In 2008 she returned to the UK after completing a postgraduate degree in creative writing at the University of Texas in Austin. This period of study encouraged the development of the narrative within much of her visual work.
Nicky grew up in Ledbury, Herefordshire. She spent much of her childhood visiting Catalunia in Spain. During these visits she fell in love with the works of Picasso and Tápies, whose influences are evident in many of her paintings. Thematically, Nicky has also drawn inspiration from topics as diverse as Spanish literature to Hollyoaks; from pregnant women to gauchos.
Nicky has exhibited her paintings in Texas, Herefordshire, Powys and London, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2010. She exhibited at the Shell House Gallery in Ledbury (March 2013).
